I would agree about the whole internet thing.

The debate of the graphics and screenshot/gif wars were intense.

WHen us PS3 guys talk about it being the most hyped game of the year, we meant that it actually had tv commercials LOL. For a while there we were getting used to not seeing any advertisement for our games compared to MS which has an ad for every game that comes out and even releases ads of multiplat games themselves, so that they could put the 360 logo at the end, making it look exclusive.

halo3, GTA4, FF13 are more hyped.

it was hyped, as far of quality it delivered.

can we get some kind of dividing line separating hype and over-hype? If UC2 Was overhyped....I really don't know what to think anymore.

Its hype wasnt in the same league as MW2, Halo3 and GTA4, HEK even uncharted2 got its own pepsi cans yet KZ2 didnt.

Most of Killzone 2's hype that makes it infamous was back when the game was first announced with its CGI trailer at E3 in 2005. Over the years though the hype began to fade quick as year after year went by with no sign of release. Just a few months before it did both Resistance 2 and Call of Duty: World at War were predicted to be much bigger FPS releases for the PS3. Then as December 08 rolled on and we finally got some real time trailers and gameplay videos for Killzone 2 the hype train hit again up until release.

It's worth noting that even with all the hype that Killzone 2 received, there was far more anti-hype for it mostly due to its prequel's status as one of the most overhyped games of the decade alongside Daikatana and Fable. There were just as many detractors insisting that the game was going to be subpar due to the prequel's legacy of overhype. It's for this reason that Killzone 2 is considered to have delivered well beyond the expectations of many despite the amount of hype it had.

KZ2 was hyped mainly on internet forums and message boards - the average Joe probably did not even know it existed, unlike say Halo or Metal Gear Solid.
