under hyped, no amount of hype...not even hyer then now for this game will EVER be enough

Guys, this was strictly my opinion....you don't have to pull Metacritic user reviews to prove your point...
There were some awesome sequences...but when the game ended...I did not feel the same "That was epic !" feeling that I got after completing MGS4, GoW II and SotC....(only being gaming since the PS2 era)
Maybe I was disappointed that the game ended...lol
Remember, one review said "Forget GOTY, its one of the best games of all time"..
the graphics are pretty, I can't say it's overhyped because I've never played it and I never will
I dont know what you talking about, but it wasn't even enough hyped... it was under-hyped.
MetalGearSolid_4ever said: A tad bit over hyped I thought. Definitely an improvement over the first one though...and I did play it 5 times in a row. Graphics = Awesome Gameplay = Fun Story / Voice acting = Awesome But at the end of the game, I didn't feel the sense of epicness that I felt after beating MGS4 or God of War II. In those games, I felt that I had gone on a long epic journey....while U2 felt...like an action movie....I don't know what I'm saying either but it wasn't "OMGWTFBBQ this game is one of the best games of all time !" |
Uncharted 2 is a brilliant game that mirrors what you get in an action movie like National Treasure, and possibly up to Indiana Jones. It doesn't pretend to do more than this, so the scope may not be as epic as what you have with Kratos taking out the Greek Gods, or an aging clone taking out an entire system that ran a war economy. The scale isn't even as large as what you had with Mass Effect. This is fine though. How about you have something that just works, and is a blast, and gives you multiplayer also?

GTA4 got hyped due to the past games in the series, and then they decided to make it more serious, so critics were led to believe they were dealing with some epic title that would put videogame storytelling on the map. As far as Modern Warfare 2 and Halo 3, they get hyped for the multiplayer. People become fans of Modern Warfare and Halo, because they like the gameplay.
And I could also play the overhyped game by bringing up MGS4 as being WAY overhyped by individuals who say it is superior storytelling to even movies. It goes beyond just being a real good game, and people go after movies with it... partly to do PS3 fanboy hypefest.

True. As I said earlier ALL big realeases are overhyped one way or the other.
To single out U2 - like it is the only one that has ever been overhyped, isn't quite fair.
You can pick ANY other major title and stick that label on it if you so desire.
I find it ironic that the guy advertising his God of War III official thread left and right is asking this question.
Also, why does something have to be epic to be great? Some of my favorite movies of all time aren't epic in the slightest. Or should every movie be like the Lord of the Rings or Braveheart?
LittleBigPlanet is my favorite game in the past three years, and there's nothing epic about it.
