Windows XP because you don't need overpriced systems to run it effectively.

The one that does everything you want it to do.

to me its Linux (any), because each time i use a windows OS at first it runs fine, but after a month or so it crashes almost daily. and the software that comes with it is not reliable at all, i had countless hard times with WMM it crashed multiple times leading me to do the project all over again, while on ubuntu , there is KDenlive which does more and hundred times more reliable , its like a free version of Sony vegas.

as for MAC its really expensive for no apparent reason other than its from Apple.

I've tried XP, Vista, Windows 7 and the Mac OS X.
From all of them, I'm enjoying Windows 7 the most.

XP was great, but you have to move on if you're stuck to it and try Windows 7.
Vista was ok, I honestly never had problems with it..but apparently alot of people did.
Mac OS X is great, but I find the Apple computers to be overpriced.
I never tried Linux.

So same as vista really? Since my laptop isn't overpriced yet runs vista efficiently?

I can't say which is the best since I haven't used windows 7. But from my experience every windows OS > all mac OS. I just cannot stand Mac OS or Mac owners. They are supposed to be "idiot" friendly yet they don't support many programs unless you have a good bit of knowledge about PC's and know how to get it running. I can't see someone who is fairly new to computers being able to create a dual boot on a Mac so that it can run windows only programs. And I hate the mac ads. And my iPod just broke so I'm a bit resentful of Apple.

This'll be a hugely skewed poll, because I know that 99% of responses will pretty much be people who Only use XP or Early Vista....

Anyone who has tried one of the better Linux OS...or Win7 know that they are much more stable and intuitive operating systems

Just waiting for that PS Vita to come out so I can play some full featured games on the go with that beautiful screen and control scheme...

Umm i don't know but my PC would need to quadruple its ram to run vista. Also i would need a new processor to get better performance.

Depends what you means "best". As for the OS itself, Ubuntu is definitely more functional and stable than any Windows, the problem of Ubuntu is the very limited compatibility, but that's not a problem of the OS itself
