Forums - Sony Discussion - Whats the reason PS3 owners not buying Dragon Age?

Japanese dude, not western!!! This game will only cater to PC and Xbox 360 fans. I for one am not excited about this game either, it looks pretty boring. I'm more of a JRPG fan rather than western. Mass Effect is a good western RPG, but Dragon Age reminds me of World of Warcraft for some reason.

i already mentioned that its a good game!, and if you like FF you will like this , because of the characters.

Perhaps because a lot of Bioware and WRPG fans are calling it a glorified or 'pretty' version of Baulders Gate? I don't want to stereotype, but many WRPG fans seem to think of themselves as savvy and 'hardcore' and so they might be put off by a game that looks like 'more of the same'. Especially a game that looks to be copying one of their favorite past WRPGs.

Its the exact opposite of JRPG fans who tend to like games which take a lot of past ideas and incorporate them into the future games. Note how I don't say 'copy', but use past ideas. Final Fantasy XIII is looking to be a perfect example of this.

2010 Hardware Sales Predictions

Wii: 20m- Sales will drop, but not by much.

PS3: 13.5m- It sold 12m in 2009, its only common sense it will sell more this year.

Xbox 360: 11m- It sold 11m in 2008 and 2009, I think it will sell the same.

My Fanboy Speech...

Why do you have to make excuses to defend a product that you purchased, but that's the only connection you have to it, you don't make it, you don't lose or gain money on it. I don't see where all of the defensiveness comes in, there is no reason for you or anybody else to feel obligated to defend it. Now I would understand if one of you were a developer for the product and you slaved over said product only to hear somebody call it stupid or a piece of junk. But none of you developed it, none of you are mature enough to realize that. Choosing a product all comes down to preference, you chose said product because it is best for you. Simple as that!

im not a big fan of dragon age i played it for a few hours but sometimes it doesn't tell me where to go and i hate!! that it tells me to go to a place in this forest as if the game thinks i know where im going! which i dont, i need a waypoint other wise i get lost and bored then turn it off

The problem is Sony fans pretty much prefer JRPG's. WRPG's are huge on the Xbox 360 and PC, but not very popular on the Playstation 3. Hopefully this will change soon.

I hate buying games like these for PS3 and they sell like crap and there aren't many people to play with! Borderlands is a good example, it sold over a million for the Xbox 360, but only 400k for the Playstation 3...

And also Demon's Souls probably hurt its sales a little, a lot of people I know bought that over Dragon Age: Origins.

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

they have a better line up in 2009 . no need to buy 3rd party games

bestbuy got it and MMW2 for $39 but only modern warfare 2 selling

I think part of it was the fact that it had a delayed release... making the X360 and PC versions seem a lot better. I know they moved up the NA release, but it was slightly botched by some of the dealers in Canada. I.E. if you pre-ordered it you wouldn't get it until the original release date regardless.

The Mass Effect 2 pre-order may have also persuaded people to get either the X360 or PC versions instead of the PS3 version.

At the time PS3 also had a solid line-up with Uncharted 2 and Demon's Souls releasing a week apart in North America. The delay releases put it around the releases of Modern Warfare 2.

It should be selling bucket loads, every store in Canada has it for $39.99 (29.99 for the PC) for boxing week sales.

yeah i had that too, but the good thing you can ask your party members.

i myself like getting lost, but i'll admit that the battles get tedious in this game if you're battling weak monsters.
