Forums - Microsoft Discussion - This needs to be repeated. Shadow Complex is incredible.

Why does it need to be repeated? Because I just found out first hand! It easily is in my top 3 downloadable games. It would most likely be my favorite if it didn't suffer from a few serious problems. The first being the most retarded AI I've found in a game in a long long time. I was playing of the default setting and not only could I literally shoot someone but his teammates right next to me with their back turned couldn't hear it. There are many times in the game when you shoot, cause explosions and jump in front of enemies and they do not react at all. I know I didn't play on hard, but these kind of things shouldn't be happening on the normal difficulty either. I also faced a boss who when I got behind him and shot him up he never turned around and continued shooting in the wrong direction until he was dead. The ending boss fight also made NO sense. *spoilers* You basically fight against a huge battle ship and have to shoot three nukes at it but after you shoot one the ship nukes the spot and you have to move on to the next firing spot to fire a new nuke at it. But WHY wouldn't they just destroy ALL of the places you can fire nukes before you get to fire them?! It's there base! They know where they are! lol One last thing, at the beginning of the game you play a soldier who steals one of their battlesuits and then the leader of the enemy turns on the self shut down mechanism on the suit when he thinks he's won. Which you think would lead into when the main character starts owning them with their own battle armour, but alas, it never comes up again and the enemy just lets him save the day with their own battle armour.

Those few nitpicks aside and weak story aside, the game is a blast. The exploration and gunplay is just incredible. It harks back to the days of Super Metroid, only I think I actually preferred the setting and enemies other then the mediocre boss fights which have nothing on metroid. It also reminded me a lot of MGS2. No, it's not a stealth game, but the environments and having to find items to procede reminded me of MGS2, but overall it was the atmosphere that made me draw the comparisons. Which is a great game to remind me of as it is one of my all time favorites. The game also looks amazing for a downloadable game which doesn't hurt. Also, the amount of upgrades to find and collect are numerous and worth the time in exploring every corner of the world exspecially I would imagine on the harder difficulties. With the few nitpicks aside I just can't see a game like this coming out any time soon that could top this. I never wanted to stop playing until the 5 or so hour campeign was completed. If you have been on the fence about this game, get it! Trust me. It's probably the most straight up fun you can find on Xbox Live arcarde.

I bought this because it was on sale. still haven't played it because I forget it's there haha. eventually check this out though!

I also got it for 800 MS points in the sale.

I wasn't so sure about this game at first but oh boy was i wrong, just finished it a few hours ago and i have to say its a truly exceptional game.

Tonnes of fun, action packed, and first time round it takes a good few hours to complete aswell.

And to top it off i just finished the 3 proving ground packs and they were brilliant too.

A solid 9.1 from me for this game................. fantastic.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea. That's why I got it also. I was hesitant to spend $15 even though I enjoyed the demo. But ten dollars was my weak spot. I suggest everyone buy it while it's still on sale! :)

It was a steal at deal price, but i would not have any hesitation from now on reccomending this game to anybody, even when its back at full price.

Worth every penny at 800 MS points/£6.80p

Still got to get the minimalist and er, maximumist? achievements aswell so plenty of reason to revisit "the complex"

Its that damn good i'm going back to it within the next day or two for sure.

Trust me. I would recommend this at $15 which is rare for me to recommend a downloadable game for that price. But why not get it on sale while you can? lol

Right now, the only downloadable games that I would recommend more are Braid and Flower which are both extremely different games. As an action downloadable game I can't see myself pointing anyone anywhere but to this game.

@ Solid_Raiden

I have heard very good things about flower, when i get a PS3 i'll be checking it out defo.

As for Shadow Complex........... it's sold incredibly well so i wouldn't be suprised if Chair/Epic get the ball rolling sooner rather than later and get started on Shadow Complex 2.

Ronster,
Honestly. I wouldn't mind a larger game for Shadow Complex 2. A retail game maybe? A budget title maybe? I would pay for a larger retail Shadow Complex for sure.

It will probably be another Live Arcade game though, which is good enough. I'll buy it for sure.

Also, have you tried Braid? Absolutley brilliant. It's beautiful in a way that games rarely are anymore.

@ Solid

Braid slipped by me, i'll be getting it at some point though (Shadow Complex took my XBLA game total to nearly 40, costing me a fortune lol)

Same for me, full on retail game or XBLA game Shadow Complex 2 will be purchesed much sooner.

I really fancy this game.

Is the exclusivity on this similar to previous Summer of Arcade titles like Braid, where it'll eventually release on PSN like 18 months later or whatever?

Otherwise I'll have to wait until the gen is almost over because I can't afford a second console right now.
