Forums - PC Discussion - What exactly is Intel Larabee?

hmm their was talk over on NintendoEverything about Intel wanting this to be in the Wii HD

Not happening. Nintendo wouldn't use an unproven chip in their next console, and Larrabee just missed its performance and power targets. Would you trust Intel to get it right next time?

Around the Network

There's no way at all Larrabee would be in the next Wii.

If anything, Nintendo would pursue something like Fusion, only with PPC cores instead of x86 ones.

Or, of course, stick to a standalone GPU and CPU.

I think Intel has a good idea, but the fact that they can't yet realize the tech most likely means the performance side of the design has much to be desired for and would be extremely hard to convince the performance hungry to go that route down the line until many years later.
