Forums - Sony Discussion - The Inevitable Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Be Terrible

Well, the only Square Enix original and remake I've played is Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories.

It may or may not be a valid comparison, but the game was largely the same except the graphical updates were totally awesome. This was released a year ago.

I don't get why SE would go in a wildly different direction with the FFVII remake and change a lot of aspects of the game.

Same opionion here, when I replayed FF7 about a year ago, the only thing outdate was the graphics. The battle system offer more than most RPGs nowadays. Story and character background is also more present than in many RPGs. Lots of quest and bosses. I cant see why they would change anything but graphics, remixing musics and adding quests, secret bosses and equipment. Since its already a winning formula, I cant see why they would go into the trouble of changing the gameplay and/or story.

Well, maybe it's a great fanservice. Most gamers would likely move on to the next best thing, rather than replaying something with better graphics.

This is just the case otherwise there would be so many remakes. Would be easy for developers. Same story, same gameplay, better graphics and easy money.

In general FF7 is the best game they made. FF13 might not be as good as FF7 ever was. It's still a good game. They are talented and should make new IPs.

The thing is, though, people who bought the original aren't the ONLY ones who will buy the remake.

Prettier graphics = worse game?

Come ON, what's so bad about having the same game but Omnislash is 20 extra seconds of graphically exaggerated awesomeness?

Omnislash is great because it's violent and brief. If it were twenty seconds long at all, much less twenty seconds longer, it would ruin the point of using the Omnislash + Mime + Counter combo I love so much - point being to kill everything as quickly as possible

@Khuutra

I was more hyperbolic than realistic.

I love time travel threads. Even more when they're entire pages long and say nothing new.

For the people who think a FFVII remake wouldn't suck. Just look at all the other FFVII media especially Advent Children. I like to pretend that movie never existed :(
Classics should never be remade!

Nice troll!  Caught a lot of newbs with that post.

Sorry to go off-topic, but I can't ignore this.

They give Chain of Memories a 7.7 but Re Chain of Memories a 6.5!?

What the HELL! Re CoM is the same or better in EVERY POSSIBLE WAY. If you put CoM and Re CoM on a table, people would rather play Re CoM!

If people are going to review remakes, at least get the people that reviewed the original!

Its possible that it will suck, but its also possible it will be tasteful and fitting.
