Forums - PC Discussion - Best Buy ad: Toshiba laptop with...Blu-Ray??

Okay, this was a MAJOR shocker. I looked at the Best Buy sales ad this afternoon (got it in the newspaper this morning) and was looking through it. On page 4 at the top left corner, there's a Best Buy Exclusive sale of a Toshiba laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium, 6 GB of RAM, 500 GB HDD, wireless N technology), yet one of the biggest shockers was that it says, "built-in Blu-Ray Disc player with HDMI output."

Since when did Toshiba now embrace Blu-Ray technology. Sorry if this was talked about before, as I wasn't able to find it on a thread on here through search.

Why is it a shocker? Did you get shocked by the VAIO PCs with Windows 7 in the store at the same time? What about the Intel Macs, did they give you a bit of a fright?

Whats there to be shocked about? A former competitor embracing the products that they once competed with?

Tease.

Tosh is making Blu-ray movie players these days.

Boy... you must be even more shocked that the fact that Toshiba actually makes the Cell Processor for the PS3 and was one of the Companies, along with Sony and IBM that contributed in its development.

I am a Gamer... I play games and not consoles. I have a PC and Console on which I game... I like games. End of Story!

u know Toshiba also helped develop the CELL processor and they use both Blu-ray and Cell in their laptops

September?

hell we had these things since jan , i think they release them in small countries first to boast the sales a bit and then "Officially" announce them.

Oh wow, Sonic is in a game on a Nintendo system! (heart attack!!!!.....) ;-p

Yeah, this has been known for awhile. It's not a surprise really as Toshiba just wants to have their laptops with the "latest technology" available to stay competitive. Now that HD DVD is dead, it shouldn't be an issue.

Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

You guys don't have to show an attitude with me and also be rude about it -_- I have known that Toshiba helped out with production of the Cell chip. That Sony VAIOs had Windows Vista/7 installed. That Sonic has been on Nintendo consoles. Stop attacking me. I'm not stupid. I didn't know that there were reports that Toshiba was putting Blu-Ray on laptops, and I thought this ad from Best Buy was one of the firsts.
