Forums - Microsoft Discussion - For all the PS3 and PC owners that complain about 360 "console" exclusives

Considering that I'm not interested in about 95% of the 360 only games, there is no reason to bitch or complain.

Would you be happier if Microsoft spent more money buying exclusivity so that even more games were not available on PC or PS3?  Would you like the 360 any better if they paid so that Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Dragon Age: Origins, Left 4 Dead 2, Bioshock 2, and scores of other games were only on the 360 forcing you to have to buy another console if you wanted to play them?  It seems to me like you're bashing Microsoft for not screwing you over and removing your current game choices.  Seriously why bitch about having more gaming choices available to you?

And do you imagine how much money it would cost to them to get those X360 exclusives ?

Developpers are not into charity business and If I were them I would turn this into a very, very expensive game for MS

"Dragon age X360 exclusive ? No problem Mr Balmer ! 100 Million $ please...

Mass Effect 2 X360 exclusive ? Still not a problem Mr Balmer ! 150 Million $ please..."

The only people that try to negate games that are on PC and a Console as not exclusive are fanboys. Analysts and Industry all view games on a PC and a Console as different markets.

Not to mention PC gaming market is much smaller. I for one hate to play games with keyboard and mouse.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

When people say PC, they really mean Microsoft Windows, you're not playing these games on OSX or Linux.

PC is a Microsoft platform just like Xbox is. Most people ignore this fact.

One of the great advantages Windows has over Mac is games. To a certain extent keeping games available on PC is a major help to Microsoft.

Also, if games aren't on PC it's probably not because Microsoft paid them, it's because pirates make it not worth porting to PC. Boxed PC game sales are very low. It's still worth it to do a quick and dirty port in some cases.

Also, often now the PC version is simply delayed, as the publishers know that those people who own a gaming PC and a console will likely pirate it and it will steal some console sales. But if they delay the PC version a few months like in the case of Assasins Creed 2, more of those people will buy it for console rather than wait.

I honestly cannot see any valid reasoning for your argument.  Why would anyone be happier when a single platform has an exclusive to a game for that platform and that platform only unless somehow that platform is best suited for that game for whatever reason?  And you talk about more "gaming choices."  More "gaming choices" can come in the form of the same game on multiple platforms = more choices.  "It seems to me like you're bashing" all the non-360 fanboys for being the reasonable gamer.  Yes, there are your PS3 and Wii fanboys who can also use this same reasoning to counter your "argument."  Their intentions might be jaded, but it's a more valid point than what you're presenting.

Sorry, incorrect. On both fronts. PC market is not smaller, it has different and more fragmented interests along with a much larger library of games.

And I am not sure what "system" I would be a fanboy of, since even though im to lazy to enter all of them on my profile, 96% of my games are on PC. Maybe a PC fanboy? But hmm... I will be playing Mass Effect 2 at the same time you will be, except with much better GFX and performance and control scheme...

Its like a wierd time paradox... ME2 is an Xbox exclusive, yet playable in superior form outside of Xbox.....

Jordahn you have completly misread his post. He wants to know why ps and pc gamers complain so much about ms console exclusives since they are available on the pc. I think it's a valid question? How did you come to the conclusion that you did, it really is a straight forward position.

Where have PC gamers complained about console exclusives that are available on the PC? I cannot think of one incident of that off the top of my head. I can think of some cases where the dev will butcher the PC version in some fashion, and people will bitch about that... same as if a dev butchered the 360 version, it would have some complaints.

But I think someone cooked up an argument against an imaginary foe for the sake of having an argument, is how it looks from here.

Oh, I read AND understood his post.  Just because I didn't agree with his "reasoning" and pointed out the flaws doesn't mean I "misread" it.

Really..When was the last time NPD or Pachter included PC sales in reports/articles?  What was the report of PC sales of Modern Warfare 2? If that isnt a smaller market than I dont know what is.  Yes it has other segments like MMORPG and flash based minigames, but those arent what arent what games are going on both the console and the PC platforms.

As for Mass Effect 2 well I will be playing it from my nice lovely leather couch on a 55 inch LED display with surround sound system. Rather than on my 15 inch laptop.
