Yeah, mine does it too. Really loud when you turn it off. Kind of worries me. It's a slim, btw. My phat PS3 died on me too so I know what you mean.

gah... my original 80GB didn't make no damn sounds like that before... i don't like it...

Watched the vid, my 40gb has been doing that exact same thing for over a year (right out of package) and it's working like a dream still, you have nothing to worry about IMO.
