Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 making strange clicking sound?

I'll rec it later but i'll just explain it for now, it makes a strange clicking sound whenever i turn it out, meaning the touch-tone button, as soon as you here the "Beep" then it starts up, the odd "Clicking" happens half a second before that happens... any ideas?

My PS3's fucked up on me once, i will not put up with this horse shit again...

Edit: Video up for example, sorry for bad quality for sounds and viz. and no roses this time to, i've had enough of this...

Im sleepy jus' keep that in mind... ideas anyone?

Damn man, no clue. I got my 80gb fat MGS4 bundle when it came out, and since I lost my job that thing is literally on about 20 hrs a day 7 days a week (sometimes I fall asleep so I forget to turn it off). Yes I knock on wood, but maybe you can get it checked out or call sony tech support. . Which model do you have? Is it the Slim?

You may want to vacuum the vents with a lower powered vacuum and have it standing. I currently live in AZ (moved from NYC) and this place is the king of dust. Is the clicking loud? And what happened last time with your PS3, did you get the YLOD? PS3 and Wii have very low failure rates so I hope that your problem is fixable, but ya, throw me whatever info you can, I know a guy that knows a guy that does all sorts of repairs (fixed my best friend's 360 rrod and made that thing last an extra 2 years lol, but he also fixes ps3's and wii's)

Well my PS3 does it too, it isnt a problem as far as i know.

u probably leave it for too long and it resets setting.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGJXJf2xwXM - something like this?

It's a fan problem propably, maybe there's something stuck at the fan, it might clear out if you just let it do it for a while, if not then I'm afraid you need to open it and check yourself. :/

i'll have the video up soon. that link doesn't work btw.

Hell no! got the link to work this time, that ain't it at all! thank god, i'll get the video up ASAP, brb.

It could be either a HDD or Fan as both are candidates for trouble. My suggestion is that you take backups of your saves anyway 'just in case'.

Im sorry I don't know enough to narrow it down further.

Tease.

Updated OP with video, hooray! nao helpz meh.
