Forums - Sony Discussion - Dragon Age: Origins on PS3, How is it?

Quote from gamespot:
The PlayStation 3 version features higher-quality textures than those on the Xbox 360, better color saturation, smoother facial animations, and shorter load times. Minor visual hiccups, like corpses that disappear and reappear, are a bit more common on the PS3, however. The PC version is the superior experience, but if you're choosing between the two console releases, the PlayStation 3 has the upper hand.

So PC>PS3>360 for this game... a very big suprise since this is Bioware's first venture on the PS3 and they're a PC developer at heart. You'd assume the 360 would be getting the better version.

This game is so fun I wouldn't care if it played at a constant 10fps. Just play it.

I like the monster's. I like the dark atmosphere. I'm playing as a mage. The mage defense and armor sucks, but the magic makes up for it. I'm not usually a fan of any rpg's,but the game got me hooked. lol.

Hi,

So obviously it's Christmas, and I got some money, and I'm going to be buying some PS3 games tomorrow, and one that I'm on the fence on is Drgon Age: Origins, but for one reason; Performance.

I've seen a side-by-side comparison on LensOfTruth, and it seems pretty terrible, the 360 runs at around 30FPS and drops maybe to 23-24 at the lowest, wnich is when fighting multiple enemies, while the PS3 version is at a steadt 20FPS while running around and talking to people, but it dropped as low as 11FPS while the player was fighting THREE wolves, which seems pretty appauling in my opinion.

Now, I COULD get it for the 360, but to be quite honest, I don't think the graphics live up to the £40 pricetag, they seem sort of on par with some high end PS2 or Wii games, which isn't really good considerng these are the people that made StarWars KoToR and Mass Effect...

Does anyone here have it for the PS3, and if so, do you ever notice the framerate is so low, does it bother you at all, or is it so bad that you wish you didn't buy it ?

Thanks.

I haven't played it on PS3 but by all accounts, according to various reviews, just as the X360 version, significantly inferior compared to the PC version.

I am a Gamer... I play games and not consoles. I have a PC and Console on which I game... I like games. End of Story!

i have it, and the framerate it commonly under 30FPS - but to be honest, i didnt care. the little frame breaks ARE small, and they dont kill your experience.

Its a well made game, and you can enjoy it, and it DOES look good, not as much as other games, but its just fitting the game, its pretty.

If you want RPGs on PS3, i absolutely recommend you Dragon Age, you wont be disapponted if you like the setting.

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!
