Amazing Chapter

Kisuke >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Aizen

"Life is but a gentle death. Fate is but a sickness that results in extinction and in the midst of all the uncertainty, lies resolve."

I stopped reading Bleach after it turned out that Aizen was actually alive. I was like "...well, this is just going to turn into DBZ, done." Shonen manga need to find a new formula other than:

1. Opponent needs to be defeated--he's stronger than you, but you've got talent.
2. Get stronger
3. Defeat opponent(with a struggle of course)
4. Rinse, repeat.

Manga like Rurouni Kenshin use this general formula, yet keep it interesting throughout with good characters and meaningful stories. Hell, even Negima! did a better job of switching it up than Bleach. I feel that more popular manga could learn from Fullmetal Alchemist--write a story and then make the manga, don't just make up shit as you go along just to make more money.

Anybody have any manga for me to look into? I'd prefer comedy at the moment, but well-done shonen or drama will work as well. =D

Well, all manga have their own sort of formula, and that's fine. And to add, the DBZ manga is actually okay, it's the anime that's awful. Bleach now is turning out like the DBZ anime, but yes, most shonen is like that.

I recommend to you Id. It's a Korean manwha (so it's read left to right) and is easily my favorite. It has great comedy, action, drama, and does not fall into the trap of train, defeat strong opponent, train more, fight more, etc. I don't want to give ANYTHING away, so I won't say more, but it is awesome. I recently (yesterday) re-read all of Id for I think the 11th time now. I end up re-reading it every few months; it's that good.

Id might be the 2nd funniest 'manga' I've read, but in terms of pure humor, nothing beats Zippy Ziggy (GTO is a very close 3rd though). The situations in Zippy Ziggy are just hilarious, and it's the only manga that I can't read at work, or I'll just laugh very very loudly (it happened once when, luckily, my boss wasn't around).

But still, Id is my first choice: http://www.mangatoshokan.com/series/Id

My other favorites include One Piece, Hunter X Hunter, Ubel Blatt, Berserk, Fairy Tail, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, Skip Beat (yup), Glass Mask (yup again), 20th Century Boys, and 1/2 Prince to name a few.

Kenshin and Negima are great ones too =)

The new One Piece chapter was fantastic and very hilarious.

Does anybody when will a new Berserk chapter be released?

Well, give it 6-8 months and it should be up. In the meantime, you could go check out Id!

Miura had been a little lazy about updates recently, but it is justifiable given the amount of detail he puts in every chapter.

hmmm... Id, I'll make sure to check it out tonight but I'm afraid FF13 is eating a lot of my spare time. :P

say, did you start reading SAO?

Yeah, I read 1 chapter and remembered that I read that 1 chapter about 8 times before. I've never read past it, but I plan to this time.

Id > FF13 =)

Thanks, I'll check 'em out!

I also love Yotsuba and Azumanga Daioh.

I just started reading this manga called Beelzebub. It is FU*KING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! My third favorite manga of all time (my second being Katekyo Hitman Reborn & my first being of course, the greatest of them all, Great Teacher Onizuka). GOD I can't wait for the next chapter to come out. Beelzebub FTW :)
