There are two chances everyone I know hates FF or loves it and he weird thing is that most people love atleast ONE Episode of FFs. The people I know hate mostly FF, but for example one likes 12, one likes 9, one likes 10, but they hate the other parts.
It could happen that you will hate FF13 but you would love 12 or 10 or 7.
the system is always completly different but once you are into it you will probably love it. You have to learn to love FF. I remember I had to start FF8 3 times and the 3rd time was the time I actually played the whole game and fell in love with it. I hated FF10 the first 20 hours. But it is now my favorite FF together with 12. 12 was easy, I loved it since the beginning. And thought it would be the best FF but after 60% I thought it wasnt as good as I thought and in the end it was clear that its atleast on FF10 level.
I loved FF 7 periodicaly sometimes I was bored sometimes it was like the second coming of christ.
FF is a series which is always dfferent. And most people love it or hate it. But you shouldnt judge too quickly, sometimes the game is fun after you discovered something FF real challenge are Omega Wpns X-Judges Ultima Wpns Yiasmats and so on those Super bosses are the real challenge because your character has to be perfect. After you learned that its this what satisfies you the most. Collecting all Summons/GFs/Espers getting the best wpns figure out the best system to defeat the uber bosses. This is what FF is all about. The Story is a nice bonus you actually play the story so you can learn everthing about the system and train the stuff. Most of the time you have to play it again in order to make everything perfect and solve what you missed first time and then kill the uber bosses.
They are sometimes extremly hard to find. And FF gives you almost no clues for the hard riddles. Unless you know how FF works you probalby wont find out everything, without a Walkthrough.
The Story is always nice but I just care about the story the first time. The real quality is what is implemented in every FF game the super bosses and the riddles. The mainstory is just a giant tutorial for me. And everybody can solve the main quest without knowing much about FF its easy. the game beginns after 50 hours playtime. Its 70-150 hours playtime for every FF. The past 3 took me approximatley 150 hours to solve everything
You will love it or hate it you have to find out yourself. Play FFX and see for yourself if you like it. the System in FFXIII seems to be similar to the Sphere-board in FFX. You have the full control over your stats and are able to improve your weapons.
After all I read I think I will atleast like it again. maybe even love it from theory I disliked FFX a lot but in the End I loved it.
I always had mixed feelings while playing FF but in the end I was sure it was worth every cent I spend on it.
And if you dont like FFXIII you should wait for FF vs XIII with the dark atmosphere and the realtime fighting system something says me it will be a huge hit and I wouldn be surprised if it could outsell even FF13.
