Simple it will sell more than it does now

well the ps3 won't be 199 anytime soon, by then the wii and 360 arcade should both be $149 or even lower.

so nothing much will happen if you consider the expected pricing of the other consoles.

It will sell a bit more than before, but it will still struggle for second place against the $99 xbox 360, and the $149 Wii that will also sell a bit more.

When the PS3 hits $199, the world will explode. Because of this, Im shooting for 2012!

What will happen is I will finally buy one.

And surpassing the Wii? Lol don't get your hopes up.. Keep in mind the Wii is already outselling 360 despite being a lower price, and once PS3 is down to 200 Wii will probably be lower too. There is more than price involved here in determining why the Wii is selling the most.

Do wii sales, finish of the 360 most likely.

Sony cannot lower the price of the console until (a) the yen drops in value in relationship to other global currencies and (b) the company is profitable at its core so it can consider the game console a loss-leader or technology decreases supply and production costs further.

These will not happen for several years. So I am guessing 2012.

Since I guess Sony wants to remain competitive for now (within their possibilities), I would guess that PS3 price tag is going down to $249 next October or so to counter a likely Natal launch by then. $199 should come by late 2011 or early 2012.
