I finally managed to get a good gas-based fireplace. I'd prefer central heating but in the type of house I'm living, that's a pipe-dream.

Anyway, installing such a thing is not easy. You need the proper sort of pipe and connect it well enough. Mine didn't fit so I had to take in part of the pipe leading to my chimney and had to fit the one going into my heater with aluminium tape. It's working now but as you can imagine I'm incredibly weary of a gas-smell and I have a CO alarm in my room.

Anyway, if you don't see me posting between tomorow and thursday night, I've probably either suffocated or been blown up. Just a heads-up.

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

lol, why not just do the job properly before you fire the thing up?

I actually plan on installing a gas fireplace in my livingroom in place of the wood fireplace I have now, both as a space heater to supplement the forced air and for looks. Like if company comes over and the house is sitting at 64, I can turn on the fireplace and heat it up to 70 and it will look really nice. Personally, I can't stand how dusty a wood fireplace makes everything, but I like fireplaces.

We used to have a gad fireplace in our old house (to supplement the central heating, it's all central in this house), it certainly made the place feel more "Christmassy".

The family mutt, however, was intent on absorbing every last ray of heat from it, though, so it was a game of who could bear being the closest: the dog, or the person. Due to a lack of common sense, and a complete numbness of temperature, the dog won. Every time.

I did do it properly but you can never be too sure! Meaning that I am a novice at anything technical so I just did what I thought would make it fit. And I sure as hell won't pay another 150 euro's after buying a gas fireplace on a student's salary. The seller said it'd be a piece of cake and apparantly he was right.

Plus, I'm way too stubborn. If everyone says that these are the kind of things i shouldn't be cheap on, I will certainly be cheap on it. Rubang would agree.

by your description i thought you jerry rigged it and were hoping you didn't die. I agree doing it yourself is the way to go, and saves lots of money. You just have to make sure you do it right. good job
