Forums - Sony - Sony's new patent indicates new handheld? New online service?

http://www.siliconera.com/2009/12/20/qriocity-the-name-of-a-new-sony-handheld-or-online-service/

Sony, not Sony Computer Entertainment mind you, filed a “curious” trademark in USA for something called Qriocity.

I’m not sure what this will be used for, but two things caught my attention. Qriocity is registered for use with “portable gaming machines” and “game services provided on-line from a computer network.” Wasn’t a survey just sent out about premium PlayStation Network services? Yeah, here it is.

New premium PlayStation Network name? Another PSP revision? An Sony powered online shopping mall? You decide, but since Qriocity (phonetically “curiosity”?) was trademarked for so many things it sounds more like a service or a online platform rather than a device.

After discovering the trademark, I did a little more digging. Sony also owns the domain qriocity.com and registered it somewhat recently. They just created the domain a few months before the filing the trademark papers.

Very interesting. An online mall to buy stuff would be a great way to make money online, without having to impose a fee on your customers. Very sly, Sony, very sly.

... pretty interresting, totally agreeing with DaBuddahN.

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

Uh Oh

Another 'C' becoming a 'Q'

Maybe that's the game renting system.

Could this have to do with PS Cloud, the response to OnLive?
