Word of this gigantic debut comes from Kotaku, who quotes day one sales of between 1 and 1.1 million copies.

Square Enix will no doubt be pleased that the latest episode in their long-running series is off to a good start, but this is arguably bigger news for Sony - given the PS3 exclusivity the title has in Japan.

Apparently, two million copies have been shipped to stores across Japan, while these initial figures don't include sales of the special Lightning Edition.

well unless i missed something kotaku is trying to fill in the blanks that they think they see in the stories. Unless anyone else has seen the 2 million figure released i assumed they added the bundles to the 1.8 million when they were already added in. Saying it's between 1 million and 1.1 million is probably true but the real number is "over a million." Basically, this is old news.

What johnsobas said. This is just Kotaku speculating to fill up an article, we still don't know anything aside from "over a million." Might not know until the 24th or later, because it seems to first day sales leak has dried up.
