I think the 360 version will probably have more compressed audio and video but that's about it. Also Blu Ray reads slower than DVD so duplicate files are used to combat this (as is mandatory installs).

This rumour about FF being purposely made worse so as to keep it parity between the systems is pure SDF type propaganda. Why on earth would they do that? Who has done that? There will always be small differences between the systems, they are different architectures and in multiplat face offs the 360 usually wins so if anything it should be the other way around.

About Bayonetta download file size disparity between PS3 and 360, well PS3 version is longer in some ways (to make up for the lack of the clock tower section).

What I want to know is how come the 360 allows one to download updates and games without having to install them? Does it install as it downloads? Why doesn't the PS3 do this? It's a right pain having to install after downloading.

That is only the case when devs port over to PS3 to avoid extra optimization. Uncharted 2 proves this wrong. FFXIII is said to have no loading times except between city and field, and that it has no install.

As for SDF type propaganda, are you telling me Yoshinori Kitase is a member of the SDF? Lol. http://www.qj.net/qjnet/playstation-3/contrary-to-what-square-enix-would-have-us-believe-ffxiii-ps3-is-compromised.html

Make out whatever you wish of that link.

You sure Uncharted 2 has no duplicate files on that 25GB disk? What's it filled with then? In any case, I think Badassbab is right. And that "compromise" is blown way outta proportion. Sure, no Japanese audio. But what's the big deal about environments? What's the problem if you can only do some sidequests later instead of the beginning of the game? Or, only at the beginning and not at the end? Sure, it limits your freedom, but at the same time it allows the developers to control the environment more and improve the pacing of the game a lot... It just depends on how you look at it, and in the end, it's still gonna be a great game. It's the work of developers to give the best experience, regardless of the limits. That's all it's about, working around the limits of the consoles.. And the only real limit the X360 has is the disk space compared to the PS3.. Doesn't seem like a big problem to me...

Edit: And that article is pure fanboyism..

Wait, who is that quote from in that second block of the article?

I find it really hard to believe that anyone actually connected to the project would down talk their own project and say it was downgraded.  That whole bit on the end where they're talking about FFvXIII just doesn't sound like something anyone connected to the game would say.

@huaxiong90: I know, no problem. It's just that I don't trust that article one little bit..

@twesterm: My thoughts exactly.

I wouldn't even be discussing this matter by now had they not cited GameTrailers. That's what I find odd about this article. In fact, I'm going to search now and see which interview by GT they're talking about.

There are load times in FF13, though they are usually minimal and not really too much of a bother. There is no install though.

Yeah, if someone from SE did actually make that quote, they would have to be the worlds worst producer or whatever they are.  I really don't know what idiot downplays their game before release.

No I'm not saying Yoshinori is a member of the SDF. Not sure why you say that as your source is of a dubious nature. An 'analysis' by PS3 center and no link to the Gametrailer interview. Yeah great source lol. And will there really be no Japanase VO (even though there are plenety of videos going around which JPN VO).

Oh and Resistance used duplicate files.

I've heard from many places that it does read slower, hence having duplicating data.

Do you have links to show that it doesn't?

For the people that think it reads slower, do you have links to prove it?

How is that a lie? Ok let me make it more clear. The 12x DVD drive in the 360 reads data faster than the 2 x Blu Ray drive in the PS3. Happy?

Anyone who has ever had a DVD player and have also bought a Blu Ray player will tell you the DVD player is faster for sure.

From Bethesda-

" Admittedly, Blu-Ray looks dicey from several non-capacity angles. Blu-Ray movies require a 1.5x Blu-Ray drive, or 54Mbits/second. Sony announced that PS3 uses a 2x BD drive, which is 72Mbits/second or 9MB/second. The Xbox 360 uses a 12x DVD, which should give it about 16MB/second. That is significantly faster for games and will result in shorter load times. And that 12x DVD drive should be a whole lot cheaper. (Note that the PS3 drive will do 8x DVD, and even that is faster than 2x BD.)"

This is a technical fact.

Very good debate- http://www.maxconsole.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-65317.html
