Forums - Gaming - How will ff13 sell on 360?

The 360 version WorldWide wont sell more then FFXIII does in Japan alone

that was my thought as well. When I think of the 360 I think about FPS or sports games, never thought of it along the lines of JRPGs.

We don't know what the investment was, so it's hard to know whether it was 'worth it'. I also don't see this as a 360 type of title. I certainly don't see it keeping pace WW, there is no way sales on 360 can overcome the sales lead the PS3 has with japanese exclusivity. In america, even with the huge console base lead I expect sales on PS3 to be the same or higher.

Trying to convince me the Wii is a real adult game machine 'if you play it right' is like trying to convince me Tofu tastes great 'if you just cook it right'

Microsoft is going to advertise the shit out of FF13. I believe it will outsell on PS3 version US+EU though.

Maybe (very small chance) in the US, but in Europe you can forget that dream.

Nice fact knowing that the game will cost $56,- in the US and EU. In Japan it costs around $90,-

+1 million x $90,- = +$90 million

+$90 million / $56 = +1.6 million

So Microsoft already needs to sell more then 1.6 million copies of this game to get even with Sony's turnover (?? I know the Dutch word but I'm doubting if this is good) for this game.

Agreed it will get crushed in EU and I doubt it will compete with the PS3 in NA. Who has ad rights to the game in NA? I would think sony since they have a long standing relationship with SE.

See, now this is where it gets tricky. I dont think Sony will let this happen. I bet we will see Playstation FF13 commercials, like we see xbox MW2 commercials.

MSFT secured FF13 most likely for the same reason they came out with the xbox. Prophylactically. In the states sure, FF13 may have pushed some consoles but now its on the 360 it wont force any 360 owners to buy a PS3. And in EU the same thing.

This move by MSFT was never about selling on par, it was about stopping 360 users or consumers from buying a PS3. And it was brilliant.

Fanboys will point to the sales (which in my opinion will be +4 Million for the PS3 WW) As a fail for MSFT, but in my mind the potential damage from an exclusive FF releasing in the spring for PS3 along with GT would have sunk MSFT in Europe to go with Japan.

Briliant move by MSFT, its not about sales.

like most other JRPGs...maybe reach 1.5 million LTD.

Brilliant or stupid move?

Ok, maybe people will buy it for 360 instead of buying a PS3 with the game.

No matter what, there will be more people buying this game and see how great it is.

But after finishing the game people probably want more of this ... but there won't be any ... because the next Final Fantasy (versus XIII) is a PS3-exclusive!

To play it they must buy ... (drums rolling) ... a PS3!

And so I revealed Sony's move! :)

That's right I forgot that versus is a PS3 exclusive! Isn't ff14 an exclusive too?

And versus wont be out for probably another 2 years which by then the market could change, and FF13 was a PS3 exclusive, that can change with versus as well. What better reason for SE to make versus multi than an extra 2 million copies sold (if FF13 sells that on the 360)

This gen has taught us one thing, the only time a game is exclusive is if its published 1st party or if its out already on one system an dits exclusive for the current time. At this stage im hesitant to call any non released 3rd part game a concrete exclusive.
