I would have to say the Xbox 360. For all those gamers who bought the 360 on day one, had a problem. Most of those gamers that bought the 360 back in 2005 had problems with their consoles working. Lets not forget, what big title was out for the 360 in 2005?....Exactly. They launch the 360 with Perfect Dark Zero and some other games I can't remember. However, I have to say LIVE has definitely improved since 2005. The debut of NXE made not only Xbox more fresher but took LIVE to whole another level. By the time it was 2007, Xbox 360 had huge titles like Gears of War and most importantly Halo 3 which took the 360 to greater heights. The most important improvement is the Red Ring of Death. That was a huge problem when the 360 first came out. Now, in 2009, the latest consoles are most likely to not have that problem.

i would agree, but the 360 was the first HD console...+ lets not forget the ps3 went through a diet, got a way better online, got better third party support, better 1st party games, and went down like 200-300$, and! all with the new tech of time, the blueray....ps3 has risen from the grave, giving it my vote for most improved

It was near Doomsville for sure.

PS3. First year a lot of people laughed at it because of price and lack of games. Come year two and beyond they have tempted me and a lot of other people to buy one. That's not to say the 360 hasn't improved and gotten a lot of great games (this year was pretty slow, but the past two were awesome and so will 2010) but it doesn't really compare to the PS3's great improvements.

Yeah see. I am a 360 fanboy but I can easily acknowledge the PS3 accomplishments.

2006 - Launch ...

2007 - Gets Oblivion at long last. Uncharted is a start to a beautfiul series. Ratchet and Clank.

2008 - Too many great games to list here. People begging for a price drop and some give in to the temptation. Year rivals the 360's and some give the edge to the PS3.

2009 - Clear cut winner for games this year Uncharted 2, Little Big Planet PLUS/GOTY, Killzone 2, Demon's Souls, Ratchet and Clank Crack in Time (Great way to end the series with a bang.), inFamous and a slew of great PSN games that were all exclusive. Can't forget the free online play for great MP action in Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2.

I say the PS3. It was a 'doomed' console since the beggining because of its price, (at the time) over the top tech - to some, not necessary at all tech... - and 'lack of good games' (that it really was because GeOW, a second gen X360 game came out, for the launch PS3 games would have destroyed X360 launch games IMO).

So for a console that was destined to be dead by the end of 2007, that is currently the only console that is seing growing (yeah, after such weak years right....haters always see the cup half empty anyways...the saying is right?? dont know for sure here...), and has the hottest, most well developed games, that still has a free!(gratis!) network that is arguably on par with the other paid one, thats great evolution in my eyes.

This is all my opinion, so, there it is.

The PS3. No other console actually took some strong convincing for me to buy....but Sony, you sure got it.

this is easy, PS3 improved the most, it cost $599 and the games were not that good at launch, and now it has some great games and the price is just right.

gears of war was released in 2006..
the xbox 360 has kind of stagnated in my eyes. Not a bad thing, but it has peaked in terms of improving (the dashboard update wasn't that big of a deal..)

However, recently the ps3 finally became affordable for middle class people and it actually got games in 2008 & 9. Not only that, but sony has kept the online free, which is amazing considering them hemorrhaged money EVERYWHERE.
So I say ps3.
