February I'll be buying a new TV. Definitely make sure it will do 3D as I think the new movies are amazing.

To make it easy for you before you get stuck with a 3000 dollar TV taht doesn't do 3D but the salesman said it does...these are the 2009TVs you can buy that do 3D. Thats it! Nothing else...

the funny thing is that they are not even high end models.
This is a new technology going mainstream. You can't expect everyone to have it.
At some point, something must have come from nothing...
...nothing can come from nothing...
Interesting. So none of the LCDs can do it yet? I actually like that 42" Samsung Plasma TV. But I worry about ghosting.

That plasma is great for the price. One of the ebst deals around and I was considering it for the bedroom.
This should help answer your ghosting concern - http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=149875&hl=plasma
Its for the 50 inch model but 42 is pretty much the same just smaller.
As far as the LCDs, they have 120 HZ refresh rate on the screen...but still 60 Hz input. So not a single LCD is compatible yet. But Sony is making some I think... :)

Whoa, that's pretty cheap for a 3D capable tv. People might get into it faster then HDTVs. Resolution is one thing, but you can definitely notice when something is in 3D.
@Silicon
I think they will most likely try to make it sound expensive and sell it to the end user at a higher price. Once all the big companies do it...
DLPs could do 3D since 2005 as they have a really fast refresh rate. Plasmas caught on pretty quick too... but LCDs are the ones that are holding up the process. Bluray 3D certification should help speet things up...taht and James Cameron.
i want a 40' OLED yum.
dead poor because of university books and games.
If the TV has the label 3D-ready it fully supports the "new" 3d ?

Err... when is the last time you updated a TV firmware?

I downloaded it just the other day, all you need to do is put it on a usb key and plug it into the tv.
