Forums - General - Should homosexuals be executed? The BBC wants to know.

Did I somehow trip and fall and into 1624?

The BBC does this all the time, though usually for not something so one sided... they alays take up an issue they support and put up a "debate" framing it the way they want.

Though to be fair... this one definitly doesn't require any framing.

It's a way to show anyone who may think it's a good idea just how many people disagree.

I think you are getting witches and homosexuals confused.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

freedom of speech I guess, though it is pretty bad taste

what would be more concerning is if people here responded to it by saying "yes, kill them",

Maybe the BBC is just comprised of a bunch of moral relativists.

Have you ever heard Europeans or Americans condemn Saudi Arabia or Asian countries for their laws against homosexuality? ( they are even more harsh). Why do Western countries specifically point out African countries? Why is the West so obsessed with homosexuality in Africa yet we have more pressing problems like lack of education, clean water, poor health, poverty etc... This is pure RACISM with a colonial mentality.

You... actually kinda have a point here.

Though if the BBC asked about Saudi Arabia... I think people would still complain about their law.

I'm not sure how a law can be more strict then death though.

The homosexuals who adopted that boy to sale him as a sex slave should be executed.

People do from time to time "speak up" against Human rights abuse in some Asian and Muslim countries. I don't think I have ever heard of any serious movement to suggest sanctions or anyother type of serious action. While I'm sure we give aid to Uganda, I'm sure they are not the only country with a differing opinion on Human rights that we send aid to.

But AIDS is only a Homosexual disease in Western nations. In Africa, it is mainly spread through promiscuous sexual activity regardless of sexual orientation. I could see executions for fornication as a means to combat AIDS, but I think it is unfair to soley target the Homosexuals.

homosexuals were also executed but not as the same rate as witches.

So execute everyone who has sex?

Joking aside, I don't think executions are going to work to combat AIDS, education is the only way to combat it. If we spent money on educating these countries instead of giving their(sometimes corrupt) governments money. The best way to make things move on for the better is make the average person have a better understanding that if they are promiscuous they are prone to various diseases.
