The answer is pretty simple actually, limited edition in Japan is a limited edition. If not it would do a lot of bad publicity for Sony. And they would not sell a lot of them. They woudnt sell a second PS3 to someone in Japan if its not very limited.

It doesn't make sense for them to reduce the potential revenue they earn for selling their crown jewel. I wouldn't expect Sony to package GT5 at $300 nor Microsoft sell Halo: Reach for $200 with a console. You don't just give away a game as good as Final Fantasy 13 for free!

The bundle is actually going for 41,600 yen, roughly the cost of the 120GB slim and FFXIII (29,980yen + 9,280yen = 39,260yen), plus it's the 250GB model.

FF 13 costs 9.280 yen ? Thats 100 Dollar it is way cheaper on Amazon it costs 7350-8000 yen which is still a bit expensive. And Lighting Edition is 53000 yen. 41.600 Yen seems cheap do you have a link or something ?
