Forums - Sony - GT5 demo Gameplay video!!!

In no way, shape or form is the demo gameplay impressive from what I have seen from the videos, it actually looks like a step backwards from GT5:P. That said the demo is only 200mb so is compressed pretty heavily so I'm going to wait until I play on Thursday to make up my mind.

The GDC and TGS video looks so much better graphically in comparison to what I have seen so far with this demo but meh GT5:P is already superior graphically to any other racing game out there so it's fine. Get rid of the framerate drops, tearing and I will be very happy. I know the game is going to look great when the game releases so whatever however the big news here is the new physics engine. Apparently it's a step forward from GT5:P which can only be good.

Edit - This demo is pretty much just a nice big GT Academy advert and I'm sure they will succeed in making more people know about it this year. If this was to show off GT5 PD would not release a bare bones demo with a time trial.

That was way uglier than what I've previously seen of Gran Turismo 5.

It also looked completely undramatic, unlike the racing games I've been driving lately.

Wait, it's a sub-300mb download? Well, there you have it, compression showing it's ugly face...

A better bideo here. Still looks compressed, but the vid in general is better quality.

The ugly face of compression:

Sony said it is made for GT Academy and it is NOT a GT5 demo.

"someone with access to the demo also received an email from Sony that wanted to emphasize this is not a demo of Gran Turismo 5, and is only being released for GT Academy. Polyphony Digital has also posted a new press release, clearly stating the demo was “specifically designed for this competition to showcase the realism of the brand-new physics engine” and nothing more. I don’t really know what to call this thing, but it looks like it won’t be the full-blown preview of GT5 that some were hoping for."

I believe it is using the new physics engine but everything else is heavily stripped down to under 250mb for the mass to download to enter the competition.

- damage is not in
- 1 track, 2 cars,
- time trial only

Like SONY and PD said, THIS IS NOT A GT5 DEMO.

@kowenicki

Glad to hear that you like portugal :) Me, I love england as well, been quite a few times to Cornwall and Manchester ;)

@Icyedge

That's ok, sometimes I mix portuguese and spanish when I'm speaking or writting, due to me being portuguese/venezuelan :P

@CGI-Quality

Yeah, this demo is massively compressed. I mean, even the GT HD demo, with 1 track and 10 cars was 800 Mb in total file weight, and that was 2 years ago.

Well, I guess this settles it. Sucks that we won't be playing a full-blown preview of GT5 :(
