Forums - Gaming Discussion - Insomniac's Brian Hastings speaks out on the PS3

the wii "fad" will not end in a year. i bet people said the same thing when consoles first started, and now look where we are? people DID say that about cell phones, internet, all kinds of NEW technology, and all of those have progressed. in 20 years from now, sony and microsoft will probably either both have their own kind of new way to game, or be done in the gaming world. the Wii has a new way to game, but its not the ONLY WAY. you can still use it as a completly normal system. you dont have to work any of the motion based controls in. most games just have it in when its convenient and when it feels natural. then there are some games that just base the whole game around it, like warioware, which is a great game, and a great party game. both versions work great. you get both worlds. and some games (only 1 that i know of at the moment, but likly more in the future) work the movement in very well, BUT STILL give you the option not to use it. DBZ game, its alot of fun and you can use the classic controller if you so desire. quit acting like Wii's controller is a stick with motion sensitivity and nothing more. it has the ussual buttons just like the xbox and ps3, it has an analog stick, and it has a fully functional classic controller.

A delayed game is good someday, a bad game is bad forever.

I expect the Wii to lose market share to the PS3/360 combo, b/c they just aren't coming out with any product upgrades like the other two.

I find this quite entertaining ...

wiat, am i wrong in implying your sony loyalty, i read your comments again and am unsure? you seem to go both ways. either way what you said about the fad is completly incorect.

yea, i foolishly didnt read the article and just read your comments. reading it, therefor no voice tone, and taking it out of context caused me to interpret what you were saying wrongly. i apologize. i see what you are saying now. please accept my apology, next time ill read a little closer or just not open my retarded mouth. you got to admit though, i made a hell of an argument about the "fad" of the wiimote, right?

Most sure as hell aint the same as you. game were available from day one. any one on minimum wage can affored a PS3, only bums cant. many care about BR most will own a hdtv, 1080p is not needed omn smaller tvs. LOL you think they came up with it in a month.... ike they made home in a few months lol. millions already did spend $600 hell many spent $800! cant wont... thast just you.
Umm. I get paid minimum wage, and I can barely afford the Wii. (college...) I'm planning on getting a DS for the new Pokemon game, and I'll probably visit a bank to take a loan out for it. Am I a bum? Last time I checked, no. And I don't really care about BR or HDTV because my TV is about as old as I am, and I'm just glad it has colour. That's why I'm glad Wii doesn't have great graphics, because I'd be paying too much money for something that won't even look all that great anyway. Not that I hate great graphics, but it just doesn't seem logical to buy a 600 dollar system and then pay 60 dollars for a game and 30 dollars for a movie, and then it won't make much of a difference on my TV anyway! I'll stick to my DVD... and VHS (if you don't know what that is, it's ok).

I expect Wii to sell even better for that reason. Product upgrades were never welcome by the consumers (32X, Sega CD, 64DD). People will wonder why those upgrades are there and will become unsure if the "normal" version (whether they own it already or think about purchasing it) of the product is somehow flawed.
If your logic was correct, then we'd still be using stone wheels.

"Well, okay. Here's something worth to think about: How well is the additional HD-DVD drive for the 360 selling?" Horrible.. but you're forgetting the PS3 which will never get revised cause it already has everything in it. AND SUDDENLY 600 BUCKS DOESN'T SOUND TOO AWEFUL, DOES IT? And didn't Nintendo plan to bring out a new Wii?? That would cost at least 300 bucks if it has a new processor in and HD capabilities, but it sill WON'T beat the original PS3. And the price takes you to: Original Wii, 250$ + "New and better" Wii, at least 300$ - Total cost, well at least 550$... N and MS don't know what they got themselves into.. and you can see first signs with the Elite. And to explain Hastings's view better to you N-boys who don't want to read by themselves; he said the Wii FAD will fade.. not the Wii will fade. Meaning, the hype around the Wii will end in 2 years.. even before by my take of things. And if any of you N-boys thinks otherwise, I see no reason NOT to make a bet with me.

Planning on getting a PS3 sometime in July-August.

You missed his point completely, or just choose to ignore it.... The 360 HD-DVD add on sells poorly because gamers just aren't that interested in HD movies. Originally his point was a fragmented product, that is one that has numerous versions, revisions and add-ons is less appealing to the consumer than one version.

If you mean upgrade then no announcement has been made, either formal or even mere rumor. Then again you used past tense, so maybe they did plan on a revision until it sold out everywhere
