i understand how you feel, but i simply cannot call fire emblem radiant dawn the best game i have ever played, it falls in graphics and storyline and length, and play value, its not a better game than MGS4, but its my favorite because i enjoyed it the most....to me, the best game is not which is the funnest, its the game i would rate the highest, i would give fire emblem a 8.5, but MGS4 will be a 9.7 to me....to me, the best game is the game i would rate the highes, and my favorite its the game i enjoyed the most.

ok. explain to me why you enjoy radient dawn more than mgs4. then explain to me why mgs4 is better to you.

i enjoyed radiant dawn more because the gameplay was more fun to me....if i had to chose which one of the games i wanted to play more and which one made me happier, its radiant dawn...the tactical gameplay was is just amazing. I would rate MGS4 higher though, because it completes the whole saga in an epic way, the graphics are masterful on the system, and the story is way more deep.

This is a forum question that always comes up and I was trying to think about answering it and I realized that I can't give a "Best Game I Ever Played" award to any one game.  While I am very fond of many old games, I am affraid that if I went back to play them now, i wouldn't get the same feeling.  In fact, I would probably find that the game is very dated and certain things would annoy me much more than they did then.

So, I have to break it into eras.

Best Game before the NES.

Dungeons and Dragons for the Intellivision. (Runner up: Night Stalker)

Best Game of my NES days.

Metroid - I still love that god damn game and am still pissed that Nintendo has abandoned the 2D metroid, even on the DS (Fuck you for Hunters, Nintendo.  Fuck you in the ear!)

Best Game of my Genesis years

This is a toughy.  Probably a tie between Dungeons and Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun and Shining Force

Best I played on the SNES

Secret of Mana - I loved this game through and through.  I missed a week of school to play it.

Best Game of my PS1 years

Ouch, this is very tough.  I played so many good games during that time.  FF7 was good, but I'm not sure it was the best for me.  I know if I went back and tried to play FF7 now that I would be annoyed in the first 10 minutes, but I did enjoy it then.  I think I'm going to have to go with Symphony of the Night.  It's a hard choice to make but that was a wonderful game.  GT, Einhander, RE2 (the night I beat it I had 2 friends over just watching and we were on the edge of our seat.  Sounds funny now.), were very good too.

    This has to be broken down also.  I've been playing PC games for a long time, and I have so many games that I've loved.

Jury is still out for me.  I really liked Mass Effect, Halo 3, and Dead Rising, but I'm kinda in a non-console mood at the moment so I refuse to make a decision.

(I think I went through the trouble of posting all this just so I could bitch more about Nintendo for not making Metroid 2D at least on the handhelds.  Every time I think about that it just irks me)

I can't think of a favorite of all time on the spot, but Warcraft 3 + The Frozen Throne ranks among my top 3, definitely.
