N'Gai liked it:

Final VGAs thought: whole lotta Spartans in that Halo: Reach trailer...and they are more talkative than the Chief. Very cool! about 4 hours ago from UberTwitter

I'll agree that there wasn't much to be excited about from watching the trailer.

This was more of a fan service teaser as the demographics of the viewers are the already existing Halo fans. As a Halo fan I was excited to see the significant graphical improvements that they've made.

I'm sure that the marketing trailer/TV spot will be far more action oriented to entice newcomers.

Do people still honestly not know the difference between simply having an opinion and 'sticking the boot in'?

Yeah it was dissapointing no gameplay.

The only problem was the amount of hype the trailer got. Spike decided to make it a centerpoint of the awards. But they didn't get any of the good stuff, that's for Microsoft's E3!

Everyone knows Halo: Reach is going to be amazing. It's just that gameplay was... expected! Or at least something 'actiony'. In that vain, the trailer didn't do much for me. Gotta wait a bit longer!

Exactly. I bet Microsoft probably gave Bungie some guidelines on what they could show so far, nevermind that the game is still about a year out from being released. It's pretty clear that this, Fable III, and Natal will be the focus of Microsoft's E3 press conference next year so why would they show anything significant at this point? At least we know what the game looks like.

I own all three consoles, and have absolutely no preference or 'allegiance'.....I just buy the games that I like on each.  Simple.  I own Halo's 1-3, but passed on ODST.  Now that's out the way, here's my opinion on the trailer (which I just watched in HD on XBL):

This doesn't look like a new engine to me.   Just a polished version of a dated one.  I'm all for the potential of (possible) six-player co-op, and can't grumble at the direction Bungie seem to be taking the gameplay (provided the single player campaign - the meat and potatoes of the franchise for me - is up to scratch), but compared to other AAA titles the graphics in this trailer are serviceable rather than outstanding.  Halo 3 looked good when it was released, but it wasn't ahead of the game, as I expected from the flagship 360 game, and ODST way way behind the competition in terms of visuals, In My Opinion.  Killzone 2 looked outstanding, but the (eventually) samey visuals and routine gamplay made Halo 3 a vastly superior game.  In a world where every aspect of a game's engine are picked apart ad nauseum on forums ('Game X is only running at 640p!', 'the gargoyles in Game Y have more polygons on the PS3!', 'Halo Reach looks a bit dated!'...oh wait, that's me....), I'm just surprised that MS hasn't put more pressure on Bungie to create a sumptuous eye-fest for fanboys to brag about.  I don't want Halo to look like Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare or Gears, but I do expect it to push the envelope with it's own visual style.....I certainly don't expect the most anticipated game on 360 to look 'pretty good'.

I'm looking forward to Halo: Reach, and something would have to go drastically wrong for me not to buy it, but the competition does seem to be leaving Bungie behind in terms of graphical clout.  When all's said and done, it's only the first trailer, and I applaud Bungie for not wasting our time with a pre-rendered cop-out, but on this evidence it's not a game that's going to make my eyeballs bleed.

I just felt ... meeeh :S

Really different from what I felt when Halo 2 was announced and then Halo 3 !

With Halo odst ... I was like meh, haven’t even bought it cause I feel like they cheated on us with a cheap *****.

And now Halo Reach … meeehhh

Also I don’t remember reading that each Spartan had a different power suit, it just looked odd and very unmilitary like.

Guess all I have to look forward to is the books o well at least they are cheaper then Halo ODST.

Nice graphix, good first trailer- now I want some gameplay.
Non of them is the Master Chief.

I am gonna disagree on the graphics. Did you watch it in HD?  The graphics are great.  Lighting, textures, models, animations, have all gotten a sizable increase in quality.  I am now confident the game will look fantastic, now lets see how the gameplay comes around.

Yeah, not a noticeable leap?

beautiful cutscene they show you the new BR and the spartan with the skull helmet looks badass and soundtracks just rock. also graphics are top notch. this game feels different than halo 3 it feels huge and sad i guess tahts cause of the spartans and unsc being crushed on reach

Edit: I think this game is gonna beat uncharted 2 in graphics and become graphic console king of 2010
