Damn that tricky James Cameron.
I hear he also made up the story about the Titanic because he wanted to depict upper class white conservatives being killed a homosexual liberal glacier on welfare. We should create a boycott against Cameron.

James Cameron confirmed that this is environmentalist propaganda.

It's a MOVIE. I don't give a fuck about the subtext of the movie. If it's a good movie then it's a good movie.
|
This is the same crap that a lot of conservatives started with Wall-E. It's kind of pathetic.
|
CAMERON: And how that tends to destroy the environment and so on. And here they are doing the same thing on another pristine planet that we've done here on earth. So it's a way, sort of looking back at ourselves from this other world and seeing what we're doing here.
This view of Pristine Planets without Humans is the earth cult. Is a volcano or forest fire pristine.

He has a legitimate point about the environment. I'd hardly say humans have destroyed the earth (nowhere close), but there are a lot of human actions that are negatively affecting the environment. The fact that the environment isn't a bi-partisan concern is one of the saddest things about politics. Do I call every movie with war that depicts soldiers in a positive light conservative propaganda? No, because I don't really give a shit. And neither should you.

I had actually thought CH's posts were a joke, because it was so ridiculous. But as for the question he forgot to put a question mark on, you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. Forest fires (for example) are parts of a natural cycle that is self-sustaining, e.g. the forest generally grows right back. Pine cones are even adapted to take advantage of extreme heat so that the seeds inside can take advantage of the opportunity for growth, or so I vaguely remember hearing once. On the other hand, if humans come and cut the forest down and build a shopping mall, the forest is gone.
I suspect that by "pristine" he means "healthy, unpolluted, and undeveloped".
