Forums - PC - How to find my video card type

I'm trying to get the latest drivers for my videocard installed....Is there a simple way that I can go through my windows to see what kind of video card I have, so that I can go to the appropriate manufacturer and start downloading?  I dont want to take this to a tech and pay somebody to do it.  Any help would be awesome-thnks

Do you already have a driver installed for it?
If, yes: you should be able to have the device manager (Start->right click My Computer->Manage->Device Manager on the right side->Expand the Display adapters and in there you should get some general info about your card.
If, no: You may have trouble, but thankfully both ATI and NVIDIA have general driver download packages that work with any video card.

If you don't know, it's probably Intel GMA of some denomination.

But, go Start -> Run, type dxdiag, press enter, go to the Display 1 tab, and it'll say under the Device section.

I'm also pretty sure dxdiag only works if you have a driver installed, but that works too (especially getting someone to just do a Save All Information... and just paste the results).

Well, he said he wanted to find the latest drivers, so, presumably, he has something installed already.

Are you having any problems with graphics? If it's working correctly then there's no great need to update to the latest ones.

No no no soleron, i just bought demigod and the thing just blanked out when I was on the startup screen, completly black so a reading of the manual led me to the drivers...

thankfully there are some effective computer people around here
