Both the Bayonetta and Dante's Inferno demos are up. Here are my impressions of them.
Dante's Inferno:
-I was really looking forward to this game. Viseral studios made Dead Space which I liked because of the amazing atmosphere. I was hoping they would take what they knew in Dead Space and create an epic journey through hell. Needless to say, my expectations were high. Then I played the demo.
-They used cartoon story board animations to run through some of the story elements and I thought they were the high point of the demo. It was something I haven't seen in a while, and they really fit the tone of the game.
-The action was really fun, with fluid animations.
-Instead of being able to move the camera, the right joystick lets you jump in different directions. Some people might be hard on the game because of this since it takes some time to get familiar with it.
-The story in the demo felt really sloppy. It's just a demo so I shouldn't expect much... but it jumped all over the place and felt really unpolished. I didn't like the transitions between worlds.
Bayonetta:
-My first impressions was that you play a MILF. There's a lot of nice quirky small things, like at some moments she'll pose, that make the demo feel really polished. There's a ton of combo moves, although, you can really just run around in circles and shoot at the enemies as long as you jump at the right moments.
-The MILF is similar to Venom, but when she uses her suit she becomes naked, although I haven't been able to see much.
-The action is fun and fast paced. They really must have fixed the issues with the game that is supposedly had.
-There wasn't really any story but it wasn't needed for the demo. The first thing I noticed is how cool the world was, and the great art style for the creatures in the game. It looks like it potentially has an epic story... although I'm not sure what that is.
Bayonetta vs. Dante's:
In terms of the demos, Bayonetta wins.
I'm hoping the Dante's demo suffers from the fact that it's a demo and the final game will be much more polished.
What did you think??
