Is it horizontal scroll as well? Do you grade the first one more a Gradius style difficulty?

Yes it's horizontal just with way less bullets on the screen at the same time ;)

I can't compare to gradius since i only played Raptor and Tyrian as a computer only gamer at that time.

But imho Soldner is hard as hell :) For harcore player who don't play SHMUPS regularly even easy/very easy difficult is challenging.
