I think it's an issue of not really having anywhere else to game. They can find a similar (although at this time inferior based on overall software) experience on the PS3, but it costs way more. If you're a fairly commited gamer with a 360, I don't think the current line up of Wii is really gonna do it either. So the only really financially feasable option to continue playing the type of games that appeal to them would be to bite the bullet, get that free replacement and watch some porn for the next 2 to 4 weeks. |
Funny thing I am in the same boat having recently sent my 360 for a second time and now waiting to get it back before Mass Effect. Not sure if it is still being offered but screw the store warranties and get the one from Microsoft which is inside the Box when you open it. It cost me $30 when using a credit card or $40-50 without it and it is 2 years which is an addition to the 1 year so you get 3 years of piece of mind. You can send it in as many times as you want and get it fixed or replaced.
In terms of why I stick with the 360 well is pretty simple really. Almost all my friends have it and all the games I want to play are available for it some exclusively like Mass Effect. As much as people bitch and moan about xbox live costing money I believe it is well worth it as it is just so easy to chat and invite my friends to games and vise versa.
