None what so ever using Nvidia 3D vision. each eye is still getting 60 HZ refresh rate...
Certain games like Batman, Resident Evil 5, Devil May cry 4...look mindbogllingly good. Looks better than Imax 3D in avatar in my opinion.

You are correct...projectors are always a great alternative. There aren't any that support 3D gaming at 1080p tho. :)
720p is this highest res for the current ones available. But in the future when they are available, I may consider one. When going over 60 inches, you really need 1080p.

If this takes off, Sony will be getting royalties from TV makers using the 3D technology, and from studios putting 3d content on their movies. I think that this is a fabulous idea, that like Blu-ray will take a long time to get popular. I know that Sony can do it, and look forward to more good things to my favorite company. |
I agree. New technology rarely takes off on day one. You have to be patient the first few years and be ready to take some losses before mass adoption can happen. The DVD format didn't supplant VHS as the primary mainstream media format until 3-4 years into its life cycle. The mainstream audience tends to wait and see how well a new technology works until they're ready to switch over. If I know this, you can bet Sony knows that. If you're shooting for mainstream adoption 2-3 years from now, then now is the right time to introduce the technology so that consumers have a chance to see how it works.

People have been saying PC gaming is dying for like 15 years. It's just simply not true.

only difference from 15 years ago is that now even MS is moving away from it to support the 360 almost exclusively. didn't even Splinter Cell get cancelled on PC? Alan Wake is another game that was originally a PC game. I don't like this trend at all.

Start-up and indie developers will always come in and take the place of those big name houses that stop developing for PC. Unfortunately, so much pirating goes on with PC gaming, the big house developers stop seeing the value in releasing their games on that platform.
The last big PC purchase I made was when I built the machine I'm on now--it was built specifically to run Crysis, which was supposed to be a big shot in the arm for the PC, namely PC exclusive titles. Crytek gained a lot of street cred among PC gamers because of FarCry and because they like delivering games that push current PC hardware to the limits. Unfortunately, I think the game only sold about 800,000 copies in its first month and got pirated like CRAZY. I think I read somewhere that in the first week there were more pirated copies out in the wild than legit copies. And not long after that, Crytek announced they would probably no longer develop exclusively for PC anymore.
One thing you can say about the PS3--developers aren't going to get ripped off on their big titles. You could have said the same thing about the 360 if they hadn't chosen to use standard DVDs, but the lion's share of the pirating happens on the PC.
Pc gaming is not dying, i think its having a little bit of a resurgence thanks to steam, dragon age origins, boderland,s need for speed shift, cod , are part of a huge resurgence in the pc market
