Forums - Microsoft - The new Zune Marketplace--a rival to BluRay?

Have Sony signed up to the ZM yet? If they haven't it can't be. Also needs a good connection to rival it. My 5MB ADSL can't cope with it properly even though they advertise 4mb on tv!

It may just have to do with signal quality.  It said on ZM that you only needed a 3 MB connection.

Hey, Steve.

Do you think you could recommend me the best option for me via the Walmart website? I was planning on using my Walmart card to get 12 months no interest on this purchase so if you could select the best TV from 46-50" range from their website that'd be great. I've owned Vizio's before, and I'm leaning towards the 47" 120hz set or maybe even 240hz set, but I wasn't sure if those TV's offered good "smooth motion" performance or if it was mostly gimic. I think they both offer a movie/cinema mode, but I could be mistaken. I haven't looked into them much lately.

The samsung is probably your best bet. Not sure what your price range is but if you can afford it they have a 120hz if your interested for 300 more and a better contrast ratio. Samsung, in my experience, makes th emost solid, crisp LCD's youll find.

But if youre really interested in 120hz this toshiba is at a great price and i dont care what anyone says, Toshiba has always made solid TV's. If i were buying a new TV and wanted 120hz id grab this one personally.

The best TV on the website is this samsung. But its a littl ebigger and more expensive. The oinly thing is its teh lame "touch of color" so im not sure if you can order it without the color or if that even matters to you.

But honestly, if youre dead set on 120hz , that toshiba is probably the most economic for your viewing distance and use. But if not id grab any samsung they offer regardless of hz, samsung is th ebest of the best, but you have to pay for it.

@Steve... This is the one I was considering so far:

Yeah, thats a good buy too. The only thing though, is the hz is really overrated compared to not only refresh rate. but the contrast ratio. Youll get deeper blacks and crisper picture all around, whereas when you pay for the hz youre really only paying for something youll notice in stuff like nascar, when youre watching movies you SHOULDNT need increased hz because BD or the zune marketplace should be good enough quality and filmed properrly so it isnt as "fast" as say a live sporting event, its a controlled area.

So your price will vary base don the contrast ratio, size, brand and hz. I would sacrifice hz, first and foremost and the other variables go hand in hand. I dont watch nascar and football once a week for half the year, but i watch movies year round so id sacrifice hz for the contrast ratio, size and brand.

So i would keep in mind why the prices go up or down and then pick whats most important for your viewing.

If its BD and Zune marketplace, forget 120hz, youre going ot look at contrast ratio and size.

If its live sporting events youre going to want hz.

I do watch mostly sports events and regular TV programs. Movies are more secondary to gaming and regular TV programming.

I think that vizio is probably th ebest bet. Id buy a vizio over a Toshiba any day and thats a damn good price even taking out the hz.
