Okay vgchartz. Have you ever had to deal with arrogant know it alls in real life?
So there is this classmate of mine who brings up little "fact"oids in study hall about certain debates and it irks me so bad. He actually said once that Pro abortion people try to "justify abortion" by claiming that a fertilized egg is not alive. I countered that argument by saying that whether a zygote is alive or not is irrelevant, because a zygote won't protest the abortion.
I wasn't even really trying to start a debate I was just trying to show him up so I can get my studies through for the day.
He took it as if I were saying that a zygote was not alive. This naturally resulted in a sort of civil argument. I ended up in an argument as to whether there were 4 OR 5 criteria for an organism being alive. That argument ended when I told him that growing and changing and reproduction are not the same thing.
I mean I don't take his oppinion very highly. He is an atheist who at the same time believes that the earth was created in seven days and that all the biblical events are true that don't conflict with his atheism.
He also says that we can't know how old the earth is because the sedimentary rock gets pushed into the magma and gets melted. I don't even try to show him up on that issue considering the proportionality to the earth's crust and the mantle and core. I also don't want to have to explain to him that magma is liquid rock.
he also tends to make up facts out of nowhere when he is backed into a corner.
Honestly I could care less about winning, I just want to be able to get a job that doesnt involve burger flipping.
