In terms of just normal battle themes? Probably VIII.

In terms of boss themes? VI takes that one pretty easy.

In terms of specific, non-final boss themes? Probably Battle With the Four Fiends.

sheesh. Well I cant argue with peoples opinion lol

From 1:10 on Sephiroth battle theme is on a different level.

Final Fantasy 7's Battle Theme is pretty epic as well

The normal Battle Theme from IX is by far my favorite.

I change my mind, this version of the XIII battle theme is amazing!

Stuff like this makes me worry that FF13 will have the worst music in the series.

I get that feeling too, I'm definitely not expecting much from FF XIII music wise, I was barely able to except this as a battle theme, but I do like it as a song though!

Although its not that good, at minute 1:03 and the few seconds after are great.

OT: My Favorite is FFVII, it has great music, the only problem is that the best versions of its music are either on FF7AC or FF7CC or the Reunion tracks, its not to blame on Square though, there is no way you can compare the quality of sound of old videogames to new ones(not in the composition obviously).

Final Fantasy VIII had the best music. Nobuo Uematsu was in his prime with FFVIII.
It's a shame he stopped doing the music.
