Many graphical assets are already done, and those that aren't won't take long to upgrade to HD standards.

Err... I'd say the opposite. Making them for HD would be almost like making them from scratch. The opposite process should be easier of course.

for Natal, I'd love to see the "controller" being your hand in the good old gun-form we all know from our childhoods.

I don't think Natal can do that... at least they haven't shown anything like that.

Not wanting to disagree with someone who is probably more knowledgeable, but this is exactly what N'Gai Croal suggested as the best approach for multi-platform games - do the Wii version, then do the HD version?

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

For a whole game that makes sense.

But for the graphical assets alone, it's much easier to make a low-quality texture from a high-quality one than the opposite.

'lol, who's talking about The Conduit?  That game sold like 300k, DSE sold maybe 50k.'.

Yes, and EA's expectations for a port of a Wii game would be low anyway. It could easily out sell the Wii game, and even if it didn't sell record breaking numbers they would have no reason to blame it for anything.. So CTW is a pretty poor comparison really.

To be honest, I doubt a DSE port would even match the Wii versionm, but that's almost beside the point... if it beat the Wii version or not, it'd still be guaranteed shit sales.   The CTW comparison is really spot on because it's always the same story... game bombs on Nintendo platform, it's the platform's fault and media makes noise about it; game bombs on PlayStation/Xbox platform, it's the game's fault and the media doesn't really pay attention.  Just the way it seems to go for some reason, even if it's the same game.

CTW is a port of a DS game. Not a very common case.

Is DSE a poor game though?
