Bungie has expressed interest in the past to move away from the Halo franchise and it looks like they are possibly planning just that. In a recent posting on their website, Bungie is looking for several new employees to take lead on their new project. With positions available in art, design, and engineering, Bungie is looking for talented people to satisfy the required roles to make a game come to life.

In the job description for Writing Lead, though, Bungie specifically requests for someone who is willing to “define Bungie’s next game universe”. Currently, Bungie lives in the Halo universe, which would bring many to suspect that their next title will be something completely new. Sadly, nothing else can be made of the other job descriptions except that the game will feature some online component.

It's been widely known that Bungie has wanted to step away from Halo for a long time. This doesn't mean they'll stop making Halo entirely because it appears as if the company is being split into two or more teams now. One could remain on Halo games for the forseeable future.

Either way, they're still going to be a strong second party dev seeing how MS has right of refusal on all of their games. I'm interested to see what they'll be working on next.

Finally. I remember the days when Bungie had talent and at least a small diversity. Then MS bought them out and then all they had talent for was FPS.

with all the dealing between M$ and ninty i can see and remember hearing about how bungie wanted to make a game series for wii. could this be that series that is being mentioned? if so i expect big things from it.

It will be. MS has right of first refusal to publish all Bungie games. They'll be a 360-centric developer for as long as Microsoft wants them to be.
