Forums - General - What's the best TV in the market nowadays?

@twesterm: I'm an old-fashioned stereo hifi guy and actually planned to use the TV's sound, as I'd rather kill myself then buy a 5:1 soundsystem or whatever they're called, but the TV's sound was so horrible that I ended up buying a Denon soundbar (no one buys soundbars that's why I got one cheap). Problem solved.

BTW: As far as I know the Sharp LCDs with LED backlight are the cheapest at the moment with this technology (they use Full LED instead of Samsung's Edge LED or the expensive local dimming LED). Hm, I'm throwing terms around as if I knew anything about it...actually I don't...

...but anyway: Very low power consuming compared to "usual" LCD TVs, excellent picture/contrast and the suicide of my 11 year SDTV at the right time (i.e. close to PS3slim release) convinced me to buy one with this new LED techonology for 900 €.

i have old hi-fi,stack equipment and everything goes through my amp......and great speakers

i couldn't watch movies or play games without it......it's bloomin marvellous,i love sound

an lcd with led backlight? why would they do that?

The so-called LED TVs are actually not LED TVs, they are LCD TVs with LED backlight, i.e. the panel is still an LCD panel but with LEDs in the background or surrounding the screen.

Companies just call them LED TVs for better marketing.

More details, comparisons & reasons why "they would do that":

I'd go with LCD, its better for games, and houses with lots of present light.
