Forums - Microsoft - Is Halo Reach a Trojan House to a Halo MMO?

yeah what happened to huxley???
halommo i don't see that happening any time soon... but the theory is nice...
but if the increase of gold membership goes up I don't see why they would need a separate fee... your reasoning works just fine with the current price of a simple gold... the increase of profit is still nice for them and MS would get something better... more controll over the market and way more exposure.... their ultimate plans to some extend is to have XBL as the lead flag of the console concept. right now but especially next gen... not only on consoles... PCs and internet and networks and media.... don't forget cloud computing is at the door... this will change the industry as whole... network control and adaptability will be a key factor... why do you think they try to fight google apple and sony... MS is a software company first... cloud computing is right on point for them.... but they also understood that hardware concepts and "custom" made would be necessary to stay ultimate master int the future... they will extend to any device that will be able to be on a network.... PC, cellphone TVs, media bowin the living room car computers MP3 players, netbooks... they ultimately have no other choice to face the future and keep their shares

Actually, this would be a waay to de-couple online multiplayer from Gold membership...Having 4-5 million people paying for MMOs would cover the shift, and would allow M$ to offer more things on a per fee basis.  The ggreat thing about MMOs is the persistent factor.  The fee wouldn't be on top of the MMO charge, it would replace it.  I pay my WoW bill every 6-months at $77...some choose to pay the month of $14.99.  M$ could jack Gold membership up to $120 ($10 a month) a year, and allow you to play not just this MMO, but others as well for the fee.  Cryptic has stated that Champion is ready to be launched on the 360, and it's not happening because of money issues, for all intent and purposes.  FF11 doesn't reguire Gold membership, but I think M$ is unhappy with that arrangement, because they feel that XBL is a closed loop, that they support and maintian, unlike the internet...perhaps somebody more verse with the technical solution can explain it to us better.

Great read, well put together. I do not believe they are working on a mmo, i rather see a title called Halo 4.
