Forums - Gaming - Future console(s) by AMD

While looking for a build for PC I stumbled upon this website, and ignoring all the walls of text, I went straight for the image and noticed it had the words `game consoles` smeared on the first image.

I don`t know if AMD already makes a console`s CPU, but even so they pluralized console.

So, does this mean that AMD is creating next gen consoles or am I reading too much into this.

I think they make "parts" for them, or will.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

AMD purchased ATI, which develops and manufactures the GPUs in the Gamecube, Xbox 360, and the Wii. Also they are trying to enter their CPUs in the console market. I have not heard that any one has taken them up on the offer. IBM has a hold on the market now and developed/manufactured the CPUs for the Gamecube, Xbox 360, The PS3, and The Wii.

If Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft decided to use AMD chips in their next gen consoles then the end result would be the loss of backwards compatibility. AMD makes X86 chips while IBM makes the PowerPC and the Cell chips.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

OK, so it could just be a die shrink for the current gen GPUs.
