From what I have observed during my own DLing of MAG and updates, the in-game updater is actually a torrent. Therefore, those of you who are getting really hosed on the DL speed probably have a pinched upload or a tough NAT for the client to negotiate.
When the game goes live and operates primarily off of disc, there will still be updates for sure but I highly doubt they will be anywhere near 2GB in size.
