That parts that weren't B.S. -
-Like the ps3, the ps2 was thought to be too expensive at the time, and would fail because of it.
- the PS2 architecture was new, difficult to program, alien. Same response to the PS3's hardware.
- after the learning curve passed, the PS2 showed it's capabilities. The PS3 is at that point right now.
- built in dvd drive was new, just like the PS3's blu-ray drive
So there are definitely some similarities. Times are different compared to back then though, 360 was out a year earlier, and wii is dominating console sales. It seems that with the intro of the $299 slim and the great games coming out, the fact that blu-ray sales are increasing and that PS3 has some good momentum going right now, who knows. There aren't that many choices for blu-ray players out there right now, and the PS3 is really a bargain if you factor in all the extras it has compared to wii/360, and on top of that it's a blu-ray player? I would buy one! (if I didn't already have one)
