@xoj

do you just say this garbage to look interesting?

the "ps2 had more competition" than the PS3?

"destroyed ms and nintendo".... is this a new ms and nintendo that we have now then?

because they did. period.

the had algo Sega. remained top even with 2 new contenders.

that gen was landside win, unlike this one the top console ps2 could hack 70% marketshare like the ps2 did. with 3 contenders.

Pretty much what d2lewis said. Was a hell of a suppressed information fallacy and thank you for correcting that article haha.

To paraphrase Douglas Adams, I'd say the PS3 is selling exactly unlike the PS2.

Now if PS3 was roaring away like the Wii at this point, then I'd see the link.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Excellent quote me boy! And a really nice summation of the dozens of other debunks I've read in this thread. The part that makes me all warm and fuzzy is that a lot of people with only red symbols under their avatars were doing the debunking. It's nice to know that this site has some "fans" rather than "fanboys". On a similar note, xoj, you may want to give this one up. I'm sure Sony appreciates your enthusiasm and willingness to overlook reason, logic and common sense, but over half of the posts in this thread have thoroughly and completely proven that this is BS.

stop hyping natal i dont think its gonna be that huge....

That parts that weren't B.S. -
-Like the ps3, the ps2 was thought to be too expensive at the time, and would fail because of it.
- the PS2 architecture was new, difficult to program, alien. Same response to the PS3's hardware.
- after the learning curve passed, the PS2 showed it's capabilities. The PS3 is at that point right now.
- built in dvd drive was new, just like the PS3's blu-ray drive

So there are definitely some similarities. Times are different compared to back then though, 360 was out a year earlier, and wii is dominating console sales. It seems that with the intro of the $299 slim and the great games coming out, the fact that blu-ray sales are increasing and that PS3 has some good momentum going right now, who knows. There aren't that many choices for blu-ray players out there right now, and the PS3 is really a bargain if you factor in all the extras it has compared to wii/360, and on top of that it's a blu-ray player? I would buy one! (if I didn't already have one)

Interesting article indeed! However, with the Wii having such a huge lead at the moment I don't see the PS3 coming from behind that much to secure victory, especially since the Wii continues to dominate. That doesn't mean that second place isn't impossible and unless Microsoft pulls an ace out of it's sleeve then second place for Sony is most likely going to happen. Anyways, I'm not an expert on these things and no one really knows how things are going to play out.

yea i mean i see the comparisons but all that really proves is that sony would have failed with the ps2 if xbox were a little more seasoned and gamecube i dont know what happened there, basically sony did really well and inovated with the ps1 at an affordable price but bulnered the ps2 and ps3 with there overpriced launches, but hey i mean cant blame them for trying to push the industry, every gen their consoles have some new format to push, id lol if ps4 was all digital download.

"even a dead god still dreams"

Good article.but no: Sony loses some exclusivity; the ps2 is coming back;it is too late for ps3 to outself this time. And when the ps2 sells, the first day, they sold everything...so it did sell well.

i actually happy they did what they did for the ps3.

i don't want that happen what happen with PC Gaming, where intel thinks 4500HD is good enough, and PC gamers are lazy bunch t hat can only code with engines. (not coding at all).

while they pushed harder, though the price raised, ps3 also have more quality than all the consoles in the market. and in the end the price went down. and would have gone done faster it wasn't for sony.

360 would still be 399$ wiii 250$
