Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Why don't they save themselves the money and just build servers with multiple Cell BE's rather than wasting it on buying actual PS3's then losing performance by clustering?

@Staude:  Maybe you should have read closer.  They ARE discontinuing Cell development.  They ARE NOT re-using the Cell in future projects, they are re-using ASPECTS of the Cell.  Things they learned from using the Cell architecture will carry over but the new products will NOT be Cell variants or Cell successors nor will they have Cells in them.

Its much cheaper I think......the PS3 isn't cheap, but doing what you are suggesting may require research, R&D and so on

It IS cheap. 300 Euros a node + free linux. IT is a great way to do grid computing.

I suppose the military is interested in old fat PS3s with Linux? It'd be funny if one day we hear the news that military research can no longer continue since some of their PS3s are no longer functioning and they can't buy more.

Or an ad on TV: buying all old PS3 only at www.sellyourps3forresearch.com, lol.

It's all a plan by M$. They're making the Air Force buy PS3s in an attempt to make Sony go bankrupt!

This is not good news for Sony. All the money is made on software and I doubt the Air Force is going to buy many games to go with all of these systems.

We WANT YOU! to buy a PS3. xD

poor Sony, they'll loose Money on the US Airforce, but hey - this could be a nice add. :D

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

oh noes, soon other goverments will follow the suit and use PS3 for all other stuff and make sony loses shit load of money.
