Forums - Gaming - iPhone casts a hex on games consoles...

^ developers can also take their Iphone titles and port them to the PSP/ PSP Go and/ or the DS/DSI. They could also flesh the games out and produce a cart game for the DS/DSI or disk based game for the PSP. It's not like companies are not going to port to make the most profit that they can, especially if the IP is popular.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

Around the Network

Sorry nitekrawler, but the PS3 and 360 are in much worse positions than the DS, lol, the DS is profitable and selling around 1-2 million a month WW, the PS3 and 360 are either losing money or barely profitable and are selling far less, Wii has actually disrupted their markets, the HD market is seeing rising costs accelearating faster than market growth, they are dying.

DS is amazingly healthy on the other hand, and its sales have not been affected by the iphone, you need to understand the difference

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

This is already happening. Many of the best games on iPhone are DS ports, and now iPhone ports are showing up on DSiWare.

There's a lot of common ground between the two platforms. Nearly all games which can be played with stylus alone could be brought to iPhone and vice versa. If it wasn't a Nintendo game, LoZ: Phantom Hourglass could be played on iPhone. GTA: Chinatown Wars is already on its way over.

Well every $/€ spent on a Iphone game is a potential lost $/€ for Sony and Nintendo.

It would be nice to know how much already has been spend on Iphone games...

The same can be said about the PSP regarding the DS - that Sony's entrance into handhelds have been a huge potential loss of $/€ for Nintendo.

I don't think they're particularly worried about it, seeing as how the DS is one of the most successful gaming products ever.
