Forums - Gaming - Resident Evil 5 dropped the ball story-wise (spoiler)

I just watched my roommate play all of RE5, and I think Capcom missed the mark with the ending. Completely.

I do not understand why they would kill Wesker off in a volcano, and make him do the same thing all RE games have: A flying vehicle ending where the last boss always just gets the guys one more time beofre they escape. In RE series, too cliche, and I think it would have been better if RE5 ended differently.

My ideal ending, when I was watching him play the game, would be to have the final confrontation in the room where you confront Wesker and Jill. Once Jill is revealed, I think it would have been awesome to have Nemesis best in the room, yelling S.T.A.R.S as he would. Then, since everyone but Sheva was a STAR, Nemesis would attack Wesker because he is the strongest. Wesker would remember the Nemesis project and have to fight Nemesis because he knows how powerful it is. Meanwhile, Jill and Chris fight and Chris regains Jill's consciousness.

Nemesis should then beat Wesker, and then Wesker combines with Nemesis to form Nemesker. Name can be redone. The final boss battle is fought between it and Jill, Sheva, and Chris. Near the end, the roof explodes, revealing Barry and Josh in a helicopter. They help out too, and Wekser is defeated. Instead of letting him die, Barry shows him a picture of them before the events of RE1, from the STARS days. Wesker remembers he used to be friends with everyone, and gives up his plans of domination because he has found his heart. Closing credits.

What do you guys think should have happened?

Nemesker... l like that...:)

I don't recall the "flying vehicle ending" of prior RE games, but the one you came up with IS pretty cool.

Lol your ending would definitely be cooler than the one they had. The whole idea of Nemesis coming back, ONLY to fight Wesker cause he used to be a part of Stars, is fucking awesome. \

I found the ending kinda cliche too, but it was expected. The biggest reveal in the game (Jill) was already spoiled for me before I even played the game so yeah....

Well i mean in RE1 you get to the helicopter, then Tyrant comes out the ground at the last second.

I forget RE2, but RE3, you make it to the helicopter, and Nemesis attacks you one more time.

Code:Veronica has the whole Tyrant attacking you on the plane and whe youre getting to the plane.

Nemesis was killed in RE3, so how would you explain his return?

I also think it would make sense too, because Jill is revealed, and then BAM, Nemesis, but then he sees all the other STARS, and decides to get Wesker first. It would be so good and would tie up the whole game.

I'm sure they could think of something like he survived the nuclear blast and regenerated due to a T-Virus mutation or whatever. It wouldn't be hard considering all the other stuff that happens in the RE series.

Then that would be a major flaw to have Nemesis appear at the end...we all know RE needs more Nemesis from the start of the game lol.

But as well Capcom just wanted to end the Wesker story once and for all so the entire game was focused on Wesker.

That`s what happens when a game is made for players in the west; cliche after cliche.
Resident Evil 5 was a huge backstep from the series in my opinion.
And for how long were it developed?
