I was just watching the final game of the world series, and there were a few different 360 commercials.  One cought my eye, where several people were crouding around a 360 on a table - then text appears on the screen saying "games everyone wants to play" as it shows Halo 3, Bioshock, and Mass Effect.

These are all great games that I am interested in- but the ad seems kind of off target to me. Did they mean to say- "games that 20-something guys want to play". Don't get me wrong these games should be advertised, as they are all exclusive, but they are all very similar in the eyes of the uninformed consumer. 

I havent been able to locate the commercial on the web, so if anyone can please link it up.

I saw that commercial too, and was pretty shocked that they didn't include games that ACTUALLY appeal to mass audiences like Viva Pinata. They also picked 3 M rated shooters (okay, Mass Effect is part RPG). The commercial was great, but they have a much more diverse game library than the commercial made it seem like they had.

In related news, I saw the first R&C Future commercial for the first time tonight. Yet again, the whole commercial was FMV with no gameplay. I don't understand why they use FMV to make commercials for a system with such incredible graphics. Sony has been using (almost) nothing but FMV for their commercials since the PS. People like to see gameplay footage, and I think this is hurting them.

I saw that commercial too, and thought the choice of games they chose to use was odd. I was thinking more like, Halo3, Blue Dragon and Madden would be a better spread (if they only wanted to show 3).

They could have shown more games I guess.

It looked like a wannabe Wii commercial and showing off a bunch of shooters kind of killed the effect.

At least they had 360 commercials. I liked the Skate commercial.

Essentially, I agree with you that the ad should have those 3 games in it, but the whole "games everyone wants to play" thing isn't exactly a good fit for the commerical.  They could have gone more for a "games that give you chest hair" sort of approach and done better with that group imo. 

But nevertheless, they gave the games to the target audience.

To me, having a "games everyone wants to play" isn't so much trying to cater to the family, but more of....Games everyone wants to play because their popular and highly rated (and more male-centric).
