Over the weekend a news story hit the web about God of War III featuring an online co-op component. With the source coming from the official Sony retail site, which allows retail stores employees a chance to take quizzes on upcoming games, the news seemed like a likely thing. Well, don't get your hopes up, because the news is false.

After the co-op mode of God of War III hit the web, we got in contact with Sony and we have been given an official response from Sony's Product Public Relations, Eric Levine. Levine gave a simple answer about the credibility of the story with a blunt: "This news is false."

While the development team has stated in the past that the series wouldn't work well with online co-op modes, people still wanted to believe this.

I for one am glad about this. because they really should just make the single player as epic as possible.

Me dont care!!!! the first 2 didnt have it and it didnt stop them from becoming AAA games.

good news, though a coop sex mini game would be interesting

co-op only works with multiplayer shooters and RPGs

People are crying for co-op. WHY?

no big deal, it doesn't need it.

I can't say that I didn't see this coming.  God of War has always been an amazing single player game.  There is no need to change that. 

I think this is just one of those games that does not need co-op
