Strange comparison, but anyway.

Never heard of that lady, but then again I stopped listening to new mainstream music a few years ago.

After having wikied Taylor Swift I can at least confirm one thing:
She's not only extremely succesful in USA/CAN/AUS/NZ but seems to gain popularity everywhere else as well, her last album peaked at #5 in UK, #7 in IRL, #5 in NOR, #12 in GER and SWE.

So based on these figures and without having heard any Swift song my verdict is for now: She could be the next Shania Twain with regards to popularity and sales.

Thats why. She is huge now and her songs are on the radio like every 2 seconds.

But yeah, the next Shania is a huge compliment too. I think Taylor has a shot at being much bigger though.

Reputation proceeds me, they told you I'm crazy, I swear I don't love the drama it loves me <3

BUY TAYLOR'S NEW ALBUM REPUTATION!!

lmfao... the beatles > everyone else.

Think about it this way:

Elvis was one of the most influential music artists of all time. He is considered the King of Rock and Roll, and he changed the face of music forever. He had a successful career that spanned over decades.

Michael Jackson was a worldwide Pop superstar, who drew huge crowds and made humongous amounts of money. Anyone who hasn't been living under a rock can see his popularity.

And yet neither of these two artists were as successful as the Beatles. Taylor Swift is successful, sure, but she's just one in a long line of female singers that we'll all like for a couple months or years.

Comparing the most popular and influential band of all time to some girl who most people will only remember because Kanye West made her cry.

The Beatles haven't had a song in decades and still hundreds of thousands of people are coming to watch Paul McCartney sing. Who's going to want to listen to Taylor's boring generic pop-country crap 20 months from now, let alone 20 years?

Even just talking female artists in the past two years, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Rihanna have had bigger and more memorable hits than she could ever hope to have.

she is quiet popular but compare it with the Beatles now that's a long shot.

Not to sound pretentious, but you're confusing simply popular vs popular and creative genius.

I don't care how popular she is, she's never going to come close (very probably) to matching a fraction of The Beatles contribution to music and that's what makes the difference for me.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

The Beatles are definitely overrated but they were actual artists and had relevant songs. Taylor Swift's music is homogenized and boring. What makes her the #1 artist of today? I can think of several female singers who are arguably much more popular. Beyonce for one. Lady Gaga is easily another..

40 years ago, i would have known who the beatles are even if i didn't listen to mainstream music. And yet now, I barely know swift exists. She is much less popular now than the beatles.

The Beatles by a country mile!
